Project Audit and Recovery consultants are aware that at all stages of a project, change can take place. Typical examples are:-
It is our philosophy that the project management team must be flexible to accept good changes as well as bad. However, the latter should be kept to a minimum and tightly controlled. Too many changes may cause the project to miss its objectives. Though the reluctance to accept appropriate changes can result in a project that fails to deliver the benefits or does not meet the customer’s expectations. Many clients fail to appreciate that ineffective procedures for the evaluation of change requests and incorporating approved ones into the project is likely to lead to wasted time and money, missed opportunities and poor quality. Hence the extensive experience PAR consultants have gained whilst working for many of the world’s leading MNC’s and contractors can be utilised for the benefit of our clients. Having worked in a variety of industries in over 13 countries PAR consultants are familiar with managing the change control process including the use of contingency and schedule reserve. Indeed many of the PAR consultants have developed standard templates for such items as:-
We also have a range of standard forms for Change Requests, Change Control, Change Order Registers, etc.
Despite the development of standard templates the PAR is of the opinion that when ever possible proprietary software should be used as part of the means to monitor the change control process. For the following reasons:-
PAR consultants have previously been engaged on studies into and have become familiar with, all the leading software packages in the area of change control and how these packages can be integrated into the project control software a client may already be using. |
