This experience has taught us the 5 items that are the key to operating successful EVMS:-  

bullet Ensure that the progress monitoring method is workable and is agreed as early as possible in the project and all parties ‘buy into it’.
bulletEstablish the progress plans/schedules that need monitoring with regular timetables and adhere to them.
bulletHold regular review meetings to discuss progress (or lack of it).
bulletEnsure that the individuals responsible for the section of the work identify any progress and performance concerns and take steps to rectify any apparent shortfalls as quickly as possible.
bulletEnsure that the data being provided can be readily interpreted, as good communication with all parties will pay dividends in the long run.
